Fast Pass System (HGS) - Smart Solution for Modern Roads

Fast Pass System (HGS) - Smart Solution for Modern Roads
The Fast Toll System (HGS) is an electronic payment system that works with radio frequency and is used in highway and bridge crossings in Türkiye. This system, which was put into practice in Türkiye in 2012, was developed to save drivers time, ease traffic and speed up crossing processes. HGS replaced old methods such as KGS (Card Toll System) and OGS (Automatic Toll System). In this article, we will discuss in detail how HGS works, its advantages, usage and comparison with other similar systems.

Working Principle of HGS

HGS works using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The system performs payment transactions with a small tag (sticker) placed on vehicles and sensors at crossing points. While the vehicle is crossing, the information on the HGS tag is read by the sensors and the toll is automatically deducted from the vehicle owner's HGS account. In this way, drivers can cross without stopping and losing time.

HGS Label and Installation

HGS label is a small sticker that is attached to the windshield of the vehicle. Placing the label correctly is of great importance for the healthy operation of the system. If the label is placed incorrectly, the sensors may not be able to read the label and the transition process may fail. HGS labels can be obtained from PTT branches, banks and some gas stations. When the label is purchased, the user's personal information and vehicle information are recorded in the system and the label is activated.

Advantages of HGS

1. Speed and Convenience: HGS saves time and speeds up traffic flow by allowing drivers to pass without stopping.

2. Low Cost: HGS labels are low-cost and their use provides economic advantages. In addition, discounts and campaigns can be applied for HGS transitions.

3. Environmentally Friendly: Fuel consumption and exhaust emissions are reduced thanks to the reduction of stop-and-go operations, which makes a positive contribution to the environment.

4. Easy Management: HGS accounts can be easily managed over the internet or via mobile applications. Transactions such as balance inquiry, loading and passage history can be done quickly and practically.

HGS Usage and Things to Consider

Getting started with the HGS tag is quite simple. After the tag is placed correctly, vehicle owners must load a certain amount of money into their HGS accounts. When the account balance is insufficient, the passage process may fail and penalties may be applied. Therefore, it is important for users to check their account balances regularly and load when necessary.

Comparison of HGS with Other Systems

HGS has replaced the KGS and OGS systems widely used in Türkiye. KGS is a manual system and requires drivers to physically scan their cards. This can cause delays and traffic jams during passages. OGS is an electronic system like HGS, but it is more complex and costly. HGS has advantages over other systems with its simplicity and low cost.

The Fast Pass System (HGS) is an indispensable part of modern transportation systems. HGS plays an important role in road transport in Türkiye, both with the convenience it provides to drivers and its effect of regulating traffic flow. By taking advantage of the opportunities offered by technology, faster, more economical and more environmentally friendly transportation is possible with HGS. By using the advantages provided by HGS, drivers both save time and have a more comfortable journey experience.
